Two Merger Clearances Obtained in Phase I and Continued Involvement in Significant Transactions
We are proud to have advised Umbúðamiðlun ehf. on its acquisition of the business operations of 1990 ehf., a transaction that was recently cleared unconditionally by the Icelandic Competition Authority in Phase I. We also recently had the pleasure of advising Drangar on its acquisition of Brauð & Co., one of Iceland’s most recognized and strongest brands in the artisanal bakery market. Through this transaction, Drangar added a well-established and highly respected company to its portfolio, marking an important step in the group’s continued growth and development.

Competition Appeals Committee Overturns Competition Authority Fine Against Landsvirkjun
The Competition Appeals Committee today issued a ruling overturning the Competition Authority’s decision to impose an administrative fine of ISK 1.4 billion on Landsvirkjun. The case has been referred back to the Competition Authority for reconsideration. Jonsson & Hall represented Landsvirkjun in the proceedings.

Jonsson & Hall advised Héðinn on VEX Investment
Jonsson & Hall advised Héðinn in connection with a VEX investment, as a private equity fund managed by VEX has agreed to subscribe for newly issued shares corresponding to a 34% ownership stake in Héðinn Eignarhaldsfélag ehf., the parent company of Héðinn hf. We congratulate Guðmundur Sveinsson, Halldór Lárusson, Eðvarð Ingi Björgvinsson, and all of Héðinn’s employees on this milestone. We would also like to thank VEX and the buyer’s advisors, LOGOS and Deloitte, for their excellent cooperation.

Mörkin advises Malbikstöðin on the sale of the company
Styrkás hf. has signed an agreement to acquire all share capital in Malbikstöðin ehf., together with the company's sites at Esjumelar. Jonsson & Hall provided legal advice to the seller, a company owned by Vilhjálmur Þór Matthíasson, in connection with the transaction.
